Roughly a month into my underwater photography life and with only a handful of dives with a camera under my belt, I visited the Caribbean island of Cozumel. Cozumel is located south of Cancún along the Yucatán Peninsula and is well known for its healthy tropical reefs and drift diving with the gentle, and sometimes not so gentle, ocean currents. Large grouper, schools of grunts, nurse sharks, and eagle rays call this place home. Spotted eels, angelfish, hawksbill sea turtles, and a myriad of other marine life do, too. My two trips in 2001 and 2002 were shot on film and a more recent trip in 2015 produced quite a few more underwater photos for the gallery.
