| Our last day in Death Valley over the holidays was spent at the
famous Zabriskie Point. The clouds were nowhere to be seen, so I
used my telephoto lens to isolated the oft photographed peak.
One of my photography contacts on flickr, David
Keine, was nice enough to give me some last minute travel
tips before we embarked on our journey. One of them was to get
to Zabriskie Point early to stake out a spot. I thought it odd,
as I rarely encounter other photographers in my normal day to
day shooting.
Kendra and I got up at "super early" per usual, and
we were the first people in the Zabriskie Point parking lot. Heading
up to the overlook, I thought to myself "it won't be that
crowded". Ha! About five minutes later, a car pulls
up. Then another. And another. Soon the overlook and the bluff
below
were filled with dozens of photographers.
I had snuck away off to the right of the overlook, securing my
own little patch of dirt and enjoyed the sunrise in the (relative)
solitude of the desert.
