Central California boasts some of the finest coastline in the world. This intersection of rock and water contains an endless array of fascinating rocky points, arches, sea-stacks, and sandy shores. Simply put, it’s heaven on earth for seascape photographers. This coastal playground is Sea to Summit’s bread and butter; no one knows this coastline better than we do. On this weekend workshop Sea to Summit will show you how to shoot the finest and most beautiful beaches central California has to offer.
Half of the workshop will be focused on the incredible beaches near the sleepy coastal town of Davenport. Here the rocks have been twisted and textured into amazing shapes which form dark contrasts to the white foam of the ocean’s crashing waves. Some of our absolute favorite beaches, such as Four Mile Beach and Hole in the Wall Beach, live in this section of coast. On the other half of the workshop we will venture north into San Mateo county where different geology has created beaches like Bean Hollow with its bizarre tafoni formations, and San Gregorio with its unbelievable glassy sand.
This workshop will help beginning and intermediate photographers create wonderful images of the central California coast. The workshop focuses on understanding your camera’s settings in order to break into new creative realms. There is a strong emphasis on producing striking and powerful compositions, as well as telling a story with your photos. The workshop will cover shoot planning and how to be in the right place at the right time. In addition, the workshop will discuss post-processing and digital work flow. This workshop is limited to 8 students.
